Slow Down – Cognitive Blue (Music Video W/Special Guests) #shorts
Written by Michael Schaefer-Murray, “Slow Down” can be described as a country western rock tune with hints of other influences such as blues, jazz, and Latin music. It doesn’t just pay homage to great artists such as Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, and Led Zeppelin. “Slow Down” also pays homage to the entire spaghetti western movie genre. The tune was heavily influenced by the music from films like “Kill Bill” from director Quentin Tarantino, and the Clint Eastwood man with no name flicks “A Fistful of Dollars”, “For A Few Dollars More”, and “The Good The Bad And The Ugly”. Ennio Morricone’s music in those 3 films in particular represent the exact type of atmosphere “Slow Down” is intended to create. Nick and Michael of Cognitive Blue really appreciate Sergio Leone and his work, and they had tons of fun developing this tune in that vein.

While Cognitive Blue’s music can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, and most other major streaming services, the Cognitive Blue YouTube Music channel is the only place on the internet where every tune can be found, including our new monthly releases. The channel features a new song and music video nearly every other week. The musical core almost always features guitar, vocals, bass, and drums, but it isn’t uncommon for oboe, balalaika, brass(especially sax), Casio synth and a variety of other sounds to be heard. The music can be described as progressive, electric(though acoustic is featured), sometimes singer song writer, and sometimes instrumental. The tunes always feature guitar with a bluesy edge, whether subtle or face-melting.
