She was born as Selena Marie Gomez in Texas, USA, her mother was a stage actress and only 16 years old when she birthed Selena, who is named after late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. When her parents divorced as she was only 5 years old, she stayed with her mother. She first got interest in doing entertainment things, when she watched her mother prepare for stage productions. Selena auditioned for the children television series ‘Barney & Friends’. There she met Demi Lovato who also tried out for a role in the show. Both later were selected to appear on it. After she got too old for it she was given a recurring role in the series ‘Hannah Montana’. She later auditioned for a role in the series ‘Wizards Of Waverly Place’ ultimately winning the leading role. Selena also recorded the theme song for the show.

At age 16 Selena Gomez signed a record deal with the company that already had signed Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus at that time. She formed a group called ‘Selena Gomez & The Scene’ in 2008, named as an ironic jab at the people who called her a ‘wannabe scene’. Their debut album ‘Kiss & Tell’ debuted at #9 in the US Billboard album charts. The single ‘Naturally’ became her first Top 10 single in the UK Charts. They released their 2nd album ‘A Year Without Rain’ in 2010 and peaked at #4 in the USA. In 2011 the group released their final album ‘When The Sun Goes Down’ which peaked at #3 in the US album charts. In January 2012 the band was put onto hiatus as Selena prepared for a solo career.

In 2013 Selena Gomez released ‘Come & Get It’ as the lead single for her upcoming album. It became her first Top 10 single in the USA as it peaked at #6. The album ‘Stars Dance’ was released the same year and topped the US Billboard album charts in its debut week. After a battle with lupus she released a studio collab album called ‘For You’ at the end of 2014. The single ‘The Heart Wants What It Wants’ became her 2nd Top 10 hit in the USA, peaking at #6. In December that year Selena signed with another label.

In June 2015 she released the lead single for her next album ‘Good For You’, which peaked at #5 in the US Billboard Single Charts. Her best result thus far. In October she released her 2nd studio solo album named ‘Revival’ which topped the US Billboard album charts, peaked at #2 in Canada and New Zealand, #3 in Australia and #11 in the UK. It has been certified platinum in the USA. Two more singles of the album reached the Top 10: ‘Same Old Love’ peaked at #5, ‘Hands To Myself’ at #7. In 2017 after another battle with lupus she released a collab with Norwegian DJ Kygo named ‘It Ain’t Me’ which peaked at #10 in the USA, and reaching Top 10 across the world.

In 2018 Selena Gomez released a couple of singles and in 2019 she released ‘Lose You To Love Me’ as the lead single for her 3rd studio album named ‘Rare’. It became her first #1 single in the USA. The album also again peaked at #1 in the USA, giving her 3 straight #1 albums, and also topped the charts in Australia and Canada, while peaking at #2 in the UK and #3 in Germany. In 2021 she released a Spanish speaking EP called ‘Revelación’).
